12/4 Friday show picks: All Hail, Full Service, Brothers and Sisters

On Friday, we have a CD release show at Beauty Bar, an INsite Night at Stubb's, and Brothers and Sisters at Emo's. Another diverse night of live music in the world's self-proclaimed capital of such things.

More info and videos after the jump.

All Hail releases their followup to 2007's Every Wealth EP with their first full-length, titled Truth, Love, War. I just listened to the first few songs and I like it so far. I've never seen this band live, but I'm a big fan of CD release shows. They always tend to bring out an extra special amount of energy from bands and fans. Some of my favorite shows have been CD releases. It's a moment of celebration, and Friday nights are good for celebrating.

I'm also looking forward to catching Obsolete Machines live for the first time. This band has seemingly come out of nowhere to capture the imaginations of lots of otherwise jaded local music folks. I'm hearing local musicians and managers talk about how great this band is. That's a good sign. On their recorded material, Obsolete Machines display an excellent feel for the paranoid bombast of Amnesiac-era Radiohead and Absolution-era Muse. And they seem to have the right attitude: Play as many live shows as possible early in your career. They've got a bunch scheduled this month.

INsite Night is always a fun time. INsite Austin hosts a monthly showcase of artists featured in the magazine. This month we have reggae-rockers Full Service keeping things funky. This is their first INsite Night since opening for 311 at the Music Hall a few months ago. Full Service last played INsite Night in February at Ruta Maya. I was there to get it on tape. Check it out....

If you plan on checking out San Francisco's The Mother Hips, be sure to get there early for Austin's Brothers and Sisters. You'll dig their country-tinged folksy indie rock tunes. I shot this live video of them at Aasim's birthday bash at Mohawk....
