Local show picks: Thursday 10/15

Emo's indoor stage has a fun dance-rockin' show that's half local, half roadshow. Har Mar Superstar, the R&B-influenced electro-pop act from Los Angeles, is headlining along with the New Orleans indie-rock big-band My Jerusalem. Local one-man-electro-funk-show Neiliyo will also get down with his bad self, while San Marcos' hyperactive dance-punks Zlam Dunk open the show. It all starts at 10pm. Cover is $12, which is worth it if you can afford it.

Download a free mp3 from Neiliyo here, and a couple from Zlam Dunk here.

Meanwhile, Red 7 is hosting an all-local indie-rock CD release party. The Laughing, who recently opened for What Made Milwaukee Famous, are celebrating the release of their new album, Fever. The next time you'll be able to see this band is at Fun Fun Fun Fest. Openers include Corto Maltese and The Gospel Truth. MySpace links: The Laughing, Corto Maltese, The Gospel Truth.

Over at Lucky Lounge on Fifth Street, Fatback Circus brings its blend of blues, Americana and alternative rock. They play at 10. Most Lucky Lounge shows are free. I don't expect this one to be any different. Below is a music video for the song "Dustbowl Blues", directed by Jabbar Raisani. Check the band out on MySpace here.
