mp3 of the day: Clyde & Clem's Whiskey Business

Clyd and Clem's Whiskey Business liveI wouldn't be surprised if the slogan Keep Austin Weird originated when someone walked into a bar and saw Clyde & Clem's Whiskey Business playing. I don't know how to classify Whiskey Business succinctly, other than to say they're a satirical alt-comedy washboard bluegrass band. They're sincere about their bluegrass, musically, but the lyrics are a mix of absurd humor and biting political observations (case in point: a song called "Who Would Jesus Bomb?"). The washboards, kazoos, banjos, and harmonicas keep the kids dancing, while the smart and subversive lyrics keep nerds like me laughing.

Whiskey Business plays a residency every other Tuesday night at Hole In The Wall. See 'em tonight; it's free! And listen to the song "People Suit" below. It's a song about the movie Silence of the Lambs. Seriously.
