Monday AMF Seminar: Making Money in the Music Industry

Austin Music FoundationThe Austin Music Foundation's done a good job of sponsoring interesting and informative events lately. There was the legal series and the Internet series (okay, the Twitter seminar was kinda boring for hardcore Tweeters, but that's not who the seminar was tailored for). The seminars continue on Monday with a music industry-related workshop called Music and Money: The Deal and Everything Else You Want To Know About Making Money In Music.

The workshop takes place at Antone's on 5th Street at 6:30. It's free and open to the public.

Here's the AMF's description of the event:

Todd and Jeff Brabec, authors of Music Money and Success: The Insiders Guide to Making Money in The Music Business, discuss the many licensing and revenue opportunities available to songwriters in the digital and traditional worlds of music.

They'll cover the structure of deals, the main points of negotiation and the actual dollars paid for music used in videogames, motion pictures and television episodes, downloads and streaming, ringtones and ringbacks, advertising commercials and more. ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and foreign-country uses will also be discussed.
