The Black and White Years: new live songs and new EP

The Black and White YearsBetween metal heroes The Sword playing a couple of sold-out shows at Mohawk, and new-wave revivalists The Black and White Years headlining the main stage at Emo's, I'd say it was a pretty good weekend for local music.

The Black and White Years did an impressive job of bringing in a large crowd for a Friday night bill that included three local acts and one touring band. They played some new material at the show, and 'NITES was there to catch some of it on tape. Watch a live video of the new song "Steady as it Goes" below.

The new song is from the band's upcoming EP, Nursery Myths, which will be released on September 15. The five-song EP is the band's official followup to last year's self-titled album, which garnered five Austin Music Awards for The Black and White Years, including Best New Band. Their second full-length album is expected in 2010.
